About NAAAP Nashville

The Nashville venture of the National Association of Asian American Professionals is a non-profit, all-volunteer, Pan-Asian American professional organization that promotes the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals in all fields through networking, respecting Asian multiculturalism, and supporting diversity and community service. As part of a national organization, NAAAP is the largest and fastest growing Asian American professional organization in the U.S. and Canada.

Through its committees, members can participate in many activities that bring together other Asian American professionals in community service, professional development and networking activities, just to name a few.

NAAAP 2012 Leadership:


  Tuan Ta 
Position: President

Tuan is a Business Strategy Analyst working for Schneider Electric where he manages global gateway offer within the Power Business Unit. He has lived in foreign countries where he enjoys the exposure to diversity in the world. He has earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Electrical Engineering with a minor in business administration and technical marketing.

He has been very active with NAAAP since his return to the U.S. in 2007. He was the founder of the NAAAP Nashville venture back in 2008. He now is the Co-Chair of Venture Development where he wishes to help build other ventures across the world. He believes anything is possible through passion, people, and persistent. He simply wants to make an impact in the world. During his spare time, he enjoys tennis, running, dancing and traveling. He is also engage in continuous learning and growth opportunities at the private and public levels.
 
 

Patrick Sun

Patrick Sun is the Vice President of Client Services for a Software/IT Staffing Company called Programming Resources Inc. His current position involves overseeing client relations in the medical software and the IT staffing division.   He was born in Washington D.C. where he spent most of his childhood before moving to Tennessee.  Patrick earned his Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech University in Management Information Systems. 

 

Patrick also likes to invest in real estate, and any other inspiring activities.  His entrepreneurial spirit has taken him down a unique course of different start-ups and has proved beneficial in developing his core belief of wanting to “make his own path”. In his free time he enjoys traveling, cooking, playing softball and kickball, watching mindless television and mindful movies. He embraces new ideas, interesting people, and this ever changing world we live in.

 

 

Benjamin Chen

Benjamin grew up in the northeast and moved to Franklin in 2003.  He was born in Holland and is of Taiwanese and German descent.  He has over 15 years of real estate acquisition and development experience and is currently employed by Fifth Third Bank as a Vice President - Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University. In his spare time Benjamin playing with his twin boys, reading, and playing sports. 

 

Melissa Aquino 
Position: Secretary

Melissa is currently a mechanical engineer with Envision Advantage, specializing in plumbing and fire protection systems. She also has a strong manufacturing background, having previously worked for Illinois Tool Works, Whitesell Manufacturing, and Kimberly-Clark. She loves the technical challenge of being an engineer and cannot imagine herself in another line of work. She received her bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and is working towards a post-baccalaureate certification in sustainable engineering. Melissa believes her key to success has been living a balanced life centered on faith. She is a lector at the Catholic Church of the Nativity and has served on the leadership teams of the Koinonia retreats and the Young Adults Ministry at St Philip Catholic Church. She enjoys cooking, working out, following the Florida sports teams she grew up with, and searching for the next great road trip.
