The Nashville venture of the National Association of Asian American Professionals is a non-profit, all-volunteer, Pan-Asian American professional organization that promotes the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals in all fields through networking, respecting Asian multiculturalism, and supporting diversity and community service. As part of a national organization, NAAAP is the largest and fastest growing Asian American professional organization in the U.S. and Canada.
Through its committees, members can participate in many activities that bring together other Asian American professionals in community service, professional development and networking activities, just to name a few.

Sippy Chanthaphaychith
President

Siprachanh Chanthaphaychith was born in Champassak, Laos and raised in the Greater Nashville area. “Sippy”, as she is known by her friends and colleagues, works at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she has coauthored papers in high impact journals in topics from cardiac arrhythmias to brain tumour stem cells. She is one of the co-founders of NAAAP Nashville Venture. In 2008, she served as the Vice President of Programs. She is motivated internally to empowering individuals to reach their full potential, especially when they are not aware of it. She is passionate about NAAAP’s vision and mission statement.
In her spare time she is seen playing sports such as tennis, volleyball, and soccer. Otherwise, she is reading and/or singing karoake. She has a pet schnorky named Ridley.

Ankit Patel is a native Tennessean who is NAAAP’s VP of Programs. Ankit graduated from Georgia Tech with an Industrial Engineering Degree and currently is the Owner of www.MyComputerBuddies.com and The Lean Way – An operations consulting firm. He enjoys being a part of NAAAP for the community involvement, networking events, and leadership development opportunities.

Tien Le

Born in Vietnam and raised in Nashville, Tien received limited exposure to other Asian cultures until she attended Washington University in St. Louis. She became very active among the Asian Students groups, eventually serving as President of the Asian Students Association.
After seven years in St. Louis, Tien returned to Nashville to obtain her MBA in Finance and MEd in Sports Administration. Upon graduation, Tien entered the golf industry organizing professional and amateur golf tournaments all over the Southeast. After 2 ½ years in the sports industry, Tien decided to pursue a career in Finance and entered a Financial Leadership Program with Healthways.
Tien received her first taste of NAAAP at the Leadership Retreat in February and was thrilled to discover the number of individuals who shared a common interest in professional development and promoting the Asian culture.
In her spare time, Tien enjoys golfing, working out, traveling, and anything that involves moving and breaking a sweat. Tien is also an avid St. Louis sports fan and can found at many local sporting events.

Amelia was born in Caracas, Venezuela and lived there for 16 years. She is fluent in Spanish, Cantonese, and English. She moved to Miami, FL 7 years ago. Since thenshe has been moving north every 2 years. She graduated from Geogia Tech with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. Currently, she works at Schneider Electric as an Application engineer.
She enjoys hanging out with friends, playing pool, volleyball, bowling. Right now she is working on her tennis and golf skills with her NAAAP fellows.

Amelia Qu joins this year’s Board as the Social Director. Her goal is to reach out to the community through fun and interesting social events, which are full of creativity and energy and provide networking opportunities for friends and professionals alike and to help increase the awareness of NAAAP throughout Nashville.
Amelia has a BFA in Graphic Design from Bowling Green State University and currently owns her own business as a full time freelance designer. She considers herself a communication artist, and in her spare time, she likes to travel, paint, and be in good company of friends.

Aimee Gapultos

Aimee Gapultos, AIA, LEED AP is the Community Outreach Director for NAAAP Nashville. Of Filipino heritage, she was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised in a small town of Russellville, AL. Aimee earned a dual degree in Architecture and Interior Architecture at Auburn University, AL. After graduation, she relocated to Nashville to work at Everton Oglesby Architects PLLC. There she had the opportunity to work on various building types including residential, commercial, civic, religious, educational, and historic preservation. Aimee is a LEED Accredited Professional and has recently earned her architectural license in the State of Tennessee. She hopes that one day in the near future, she will start her own architecture business.
“I have joined NAAAP to find others with entrepreneurial spirit and goals. I sought the position of Community Outreach Director to become more involved. Community outreach provides opportunities for personal and professional development as we reach out to help those in need. For the upcoming year, I’d like to see NAAAP participate in Habitat for Humanity, Hands On Nashville, and volunteer at schools working with children through the Pencil Foundation and Book ‘em.”

Doanphuong Nguyen

Doan Phuong Nguyen is a multi-talented freelance writer, reporter, book editor, and actress. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2007 with her Bachelors in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. As a print journalist, she’s been published in the Nashville City Paper and Nashville Parent magazine. On the broadcast side, she served as campus correspondent for MSNBC on Campus and anchored her own newscast while in college. You may have also seen her on a recent Nossi College of Art commercial.
In addition to journalism, Doan Phuong (DP) has also worked as a book editor. She’s edited books for Cool Springs Press and Thomas Nelson Publishers. She was born in Vietnam but has lived in Nashville since 1991.

Anh Hoang

Anh calls Salt Lake City, UT home, but has lived in Massachusetts prior to moving to Nashville where she is currently a senior graduate student at Vanderbilt University. Her thesis focuses on alleviating the malaria epidemic by investigating the role of the hemozoin (the malaria pigment) formation and employing reengineered virus to probe for a peptide based antimalarial drug. Her research has taken her all over the US and
around the world. In her spare time, Anh likes to cook, paint, read and
write short stories.

Kaz Kikkawa

Kaz Kikkawa is Senior Counsel for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). In this role, he helps draft and negotiate managed care contracts on behalf of the company's 75 hospitals and other healthcare facilities located in Texas, California and Nevada. He also helps resolve the disputes that inevitably arise in the course of those complex business relationships through informal negotiation, mediation, arbitration or litigation. Kaz also supports HCA's Shared Service Group. In that capacity, he drafts and negotiates other sorts of commercial agreements, develops and implements reimbursement and collection-related policies and procedures, and generally helps the company achieve its business objectives while navigating the myriad of laws and regulations affecting healthcare providers.
As NAAAP-Nashville's Legal Director, Kaz hopes to continue fostering the development of both NAAAP-Nashville and TAPABA. He also hopes to continue working towards increasing the diversity of the legal profession in Tennessee and increasing the local Asian community's access to the justice system.Kaz is one of the founders of the Tennessee Asian Pacific American Bar Association (TAPABA) and has served as TAPABA's President for the past two years. He currently serves on the Tennessee Bar Association's Committee for Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession and will soon Co-Chair the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's Mentoring Committee. Kaz is an alumnus of the Nashville Young Leaders Council and the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Colgate University and his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Jonathan Camcam

Graduate of Ecole des Roches in Switzerland, with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Les Roches is ranked among the top 3 Hospitality Management School in the world. He began his career of 12 years with Gaylord Hotel Opryland, one of the largest convention hotels outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. He left the company as the Director of Food & Beverage at the Radisson Hotel Opryland to become the current Executive Director of Festival of the Nations.
A man who wears many hats; a mentor, counselor, caring husband, a leader, a singer, a dancer, a tennis player and the list go on. He believes that you can only be relevant and effective in this generation if you become part of the change. Get outside of your comfort zone and embrace the diversity that surrounds you. He is a man that believes integrity is the key to success and he stands firm that mentoring is the key to legacy. Jonathan has been married to Joann for 18 years and now reside in Nashville, TN.

Tuan Ta

Tuan is an Offer Manager currently working for Schneider Electric where he manages global gateway offer within the Power Business Unit. He has lived in foreign countries where he enjoys the exposure to diversity in the world. He has earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Electrical Engineering with a minorin business administration and technical marketing.
He has been very active with NAAAP since his return to the U.S. in 2007. He was the founder of the NAAAP Nashville venture back in 2008. He now is the Co-Chair of Venture Development where he wish to help build other ventures across the world. He believes anything is possible through passion, people, and persistent. He simply wants to
make an impact in the world.
During his spare time, he enjoys tennis, running, dancing and traveling. He is also engage in continuous learning and growth opportunities at the private and public levels.
